In a few days we'll be celebrating our   "End-of-course"  festival. We are preparing a few plays based on the stories children have written for the class. We are going to dance and sing too, and we need to practice...

WHAT TIME IS IT?

We are learning to tell time to the hour and minute by reading the minute hand and hour hand on the clocks .
A clock has numbers and hands.
The long hand is called the minute hand.
The short hand is called the hour hand.

We have made a clock with beads. We know there are 12 numbers on a clock.  We have stringed 60 beads. Every 5 beads there is a number.We calculated that the minute hand takes 60 minutes to complete the clock sphere.

THANKSGIVING

   Thanksgiving Day is celebrated the fourth Thursday in November, but many Americans take a day of vacation on the following Friday to make a four-day weekend, during which they may travel long distances to visit family and friends.

The holiday dates back to 1621, the year after the Puritans arrived in Massachusetts. After a rough winter, in which about half of them died. Their neighours, the native Americans (Indians), taught them how to plant corn and other crops. 

The next fall they had a generous harvest.   Pilgrims   decided to give thanks with a special feast, and they invited their neighbours, the native Americans, to celebrate it with them.

The Thanksgiving feast became a national tradition. Families and friends get together around a table. They usually give thanks for their blessings, including the hapiness of being united for the occasion.

Thanksgiving meal almost always includes some of the dishes
served at the first feast: roast turkey, cranberry sauce, potatoes or yams, pumpkin pie. Before the meal begins, families or friends usually pause to give thanks for their blessings, including the joy of being united for the occasion.
