HALLOWEEN

HALLLOWEEN IS WAY TOO COOL

Time flies and Halloween arrived. We´ve learnt about witches, the moon and  scary creatures. We´ve  cooked delicious recipes and of course, we´ve celebrated a terrific Halloween party.

WITCHES

Kids tallked and wrote everything they knew about witches. And they do know a lot.

"Witches are very old people. They can be men or women.
They are very ugly, and they normally have warts and wrinckles. Sometimes their faces are green. They fly on a broom at night, specially with a full Moon.
They wear black clothes, and sometimes red or purple. They wear pointy hats. They normally have a black or orange cat for a pet, but some witches have crows or frogs.
They are mean and wicked and they turn people into things with their spells and potions. They use eyes, hair, animals bones and poo for their postions.
There are also good witches"

Potions

They also wrote some potions to turn people into different things... The ingredients were...disgusting.

This is a story Claire told us.

The 3 Witches

Every halloween three witches travel the world in search of new children to eat. They search for a new place to go every year, sort of like a nice vacation for them. This is the story of the three witches who came to Madrid in the year 2010.

Witches hate children more than anything. They think that children smell incredibly bad and that their high, squeaky voices could crack even the strongest glass. These particular three witches would capture three new children every Halloween and make them disappear.

Each of these witches had a special power. One witch was tall, blond and very skinny. She had a crooked nose and smelled like old eggs. She had a magical wand that would turn children into dust just by pointing it at them. The second witch was a short, round red head who had one long, thick eyebrow and warts all over her face. Her power was that she was able to stare at children until they turned into rats. Finally, there was the medium sized brunette witch. She had long, dirty finger nails and even spiders and bats were scared of her. The Brunette knew a spell that would make children spin around and around for the rest of their lives.

Three friends in Madrid had heard of the story of the three witches from their parents every Halloween. It was a story that parents told, not because they believed it was true, but because they wanted to make sure their children were extra precatious on Halloween. It was the night of tricks and treats where anything could happen. The children decided that this Halloween they were going to catch the witches.

The witches were staying in a beautiful pent house under the Tio Pepe sign in Sol Square. It was a huge apartment with tall windows and comfortable red couches. The apartment could normally fit a family of 10, but these witches were not good at sharing with others so they kept it all to themselves. Around 6 pm they always took a nap, exactly what the parents explained to their children when they would tell them the story before every Halloween.

On October 30th, the day before Halloween, Each kid told their parent a fib that they were going to sleep at one of the other children's houses.  The children met up in Plaza Mayor at half past five on the dot. They made their way to the witches beautiful pent house apartment. At 6:02 they found themselves standing outside the apartment building. They buzzed into the apartment by hitting every person's apartment bell until they were let in while pretending to be mail carriers.

They carefully snuck inside the apartment and found the witches fast asleep on their three big couches. One of the children snuck over to the blonde witch and very carefully took her wand from her hand and replaced it with a thin stick of ham. The other child crept over to the brunette and surrounded her with mirrors so that when she woke up she would only see herself thereby turning herself into a rat. The last child put herbs in the red headed witch's tea that she drank after every nap. These herbs would make her forget her spells and anything else she needed to remember in order to hurt children. The children silently tiptoed out of the pent house and went back to their homes. "What a successful witch capture!" They all exclaimed. Little did they know, it is never that easy to catch a witch.

The next night, the children were putting on their Halloween costumes while the parents told them the stories of the three witches just like they did every year. The children nodded and cackled, remembering their plan to catch the witches.

Once the children were ready to go trick-or-treating they strolled downstairs to let their parents have a final look at their costumes. The blonde was carrying a thin stick of ham, meant to be a wand. The brunette's costume was made entirely of mirrors. And finally, the red head was holding a mug of tea and her clothes were covered in herbs as if she just sprouted from the garden.

"My, what wonderfully spooky costumes!" Said one mother. "You three look just like the witches in the story."

And that's exactly who they were?
